Where is the painting?
I don’t know.
It was the only piece of art that was of any true monetary value in my house.
A very small postcard-sized piece of cardboard with a small painting on it by one of the only American artists I care about.
It was on the left side of my bed, on the wall. My children didn’t even know it existed until today when I asked Henry if he’d seen it and I told him of the value.
”Why would you own something like that?”
He asked,
.
”I don’t own stuff like that! It was a good auction, an investment. I was going to have it appraised to sell, but it’s gone.”
He laughs.
I’ve looked everywhere, the floor, drawers, cupboards, shelves, walls… he’s gone.
A little mystery never hurts.
I’m oddly at peace with this because I cannot figure out how it went missing. No one with access to my room took it, if there was a specific break-in, it was very specific.
Nevertheless, I think St Anthony and the angel party lords above will bring it back to me.
And if they don’t. It doesn’t matter. I had it for a bit. Money isn’t real.
Hope you’re well.
you already know this but “Informed” Art theft rarely happens especially as a work like that is almost impossible to sell without the proper provenance … not that a few great works have not ended up in very very private collections - but I’m gonna put this in the accidental mis-placed to be found soon with a great feeling of relief energy … ❤️ SAMO
Light a brown candle when praying to St. Anthony. You can also write on the side of the candle before burning what is missing if you really want to get witchy with it.
I keep losing random things as well and I am tired of telling myself that what is lost will be replaced with better when I really wanted the lost thing. The thought and investment behind it makes it matter besides the money. I really hope ghosts moved it and they put it back for you.
