The One Person Who Got Away With Everything in Selling the OC Season 4
Everyone thinks Ashtyn was the villain this season. The new girl who can’t keep her mouth shut, stirring up drama at baby showers and birthday dinners.
But they’re looking at the wrong person. The real antagonist of Selling the OC Season 4 never even got questioned.
I binged the entire season yesterday. All the champagne, all the multi-million dollar listings, all the tears.
Alex got engaged to this drunk frat boy who looks like he’s nine years old but is a grown ass man. A private jet pilot. The entire season she’s showing him off while still acting like Tyler Stanaland’s emotional support animal.
Alex and Tyler spent the season crying it out together. Still treating each other like babies. As soon as those two are in the same room, they are crying to each other. I firmly believe they have past life karma. Heavy karma. When you see those two together, it’s like watching two sad siblings. Which is gross because they’re attracted to each other, but you know what I’m saying. It’s Flowers in the Attic shit. Those two have Flowers in the Attic energy.
Polly got a complete romance arc with Mustache Man whose mustache mysteriously disappeared and had to come back. She was going to break up with him without it.
Ashtyn showed up. The new girl from San Diego. She can’t communicate. The producers knew exactly what they were doing. Drop someone like that into a room full of women who sell houses and weaponize words, watch the chaos unfold.
Then there’s Kaylee. The nice girl. She keeps saying she wants to stay out of all the business. Which is crazy because you went on a reality show, Kaylee. You can’t just keep saying this is dumb. Yeah, it is dumb. All of the things they talk about on reality shows are dumb. All those dinners where they fight are dumb and not interesting. They’re just fun to watch. It would suck to be in there, but you signed up for the show. So Kaylee gets wrapped up in all this bullshit anyway.
They set Ashtyn up as the opp. The antagonist. The villain of the whole season.
She started shit at her own baby shower. Confronted Alex about flirting with a client. Spread gossip about Tyler having a secret girlfriend when he was seeing Alex. Couldn’t keep her mouth shut about anyone’s business.
Then came the dinner.
Gio’s birthday party. Alex called Ashtyn a gossip monger. Told her she was bringing San Diego drama to the OC office. Things escalated. Fast.
Ashtyn started crying. She’s pregnant. Four months pregnant. Alex and Polly didn’t care. They kept going.
“You’re a bitch,” Ashtyn said.
“You’re a bitch,” Alex fired back.
Ashtyn had to leave the table. Started hyperventilating. Pregnant and hyperventilating while Alex and Polly screamed at her during dinner.
Everyone pointed at Ashtyn. The gossip. The baby shower confrontation. The crying. The accusations. The drama she brought with her from San Diego.
But Ashtyn wasn’t the villain.
The real antagonist of this season isn’t even one of the agents. It’s someone who slipped through the entire season like a panty sniffer in the night. A cat burglar who comes for your underwear drawer while everyone’s fighting about who said what at dinner.
This person orchestrated the entire season’s drama and walked away without a single question. Not one person called them out.
And I’m pissed nobody noticed.
