When I signed up, I only did a month because I wasn't sure how much I'd be able to keep up with your Substack, if I'd be missing entries because I'm too busy with work and all the other bs that consumes our lives, but I find myself waiting with bated breath for every new entry to read. I'm consuming them quickly and rereading throughout the day or week or....so it's pretty f'n clear now I NEED to sign up for a year. I'm a dental assistant scraping by in Boston (living the dream, pyou know??) with dreams of doing something with my degree in writing. With that in mind, what amount can a person pay to subscribe for a year without being insulting? 😬😬😬
Someone suggested buying subscriptions for other readers a few weeks back (shout out to Jenn), I thought that was a great idea. Maybe something to pay forward if you can? You can gift a subscription anonymously.
Permanent Retrograde Merch is a great idea btw. Not just totes though. Mugs? Pens? Notebooks? Mousepads? Drink coozies specifically for Coke? Hoodies or tees? Matching pj sets? Headbands? Lip liner? 🤷🙃
I would 100% buy a tote! But seriously I think you're just going to have to create a pay wall and only offer like one free post/week. I love this Substack and recommended to everybody in my writing group. xx
It makes sense to add merchandise. A bumper sticker, a tote, a t-shirt (inclusive sizing), enamel pin. Maybe founding members get all that and a signed copy of your latest book. You can also do limited collectors' editions of t-shirts using your paintings as prints. Maybe eventually you can partner with an indie makeup company to offer a limited edition signature lipstick.
i say cliffhanger the non subscribers on every post! separate the wheat from the chaff.
C’mon ppl, artists bust their asses and deserve to be paid.
If what you read strikes a note, do the supportive thing and become a paid subscriber. It’s a reasonable price and being part of the community Kelly created here can really make you feel less alone in this fucked up world.
Kelly, if you’d like a volunteer creator to develop some merch, i’m down. Culling your quotes over the years makes for some 💣 T-shirts and who wouldn’t want a cute customized K.O. pillbox to keep our meds in?
I would love a tote. All my shirts and totes are promotional it seems like.
Also, I would be easily suckered into buying merch. Very, very easily

I love the idea of leveraging her paintings. They are fantastic.
Listen, buy decaf instant coffee crystals or Folgers full blast then the savings go to KO.

Love the pill box idea. ⚡
Oooh. PR merch! I’d happily flaunt a PR bumper sticker with one of your genius quotes.
Serious question, if I gift a subscription that goes directly to you right Kelly??
Um yes you def need to start selling merch. ♥️♥️
