A friend writes a Thread, wondering something to the effect of, "I don't hear much from Gen X men online, maybe my algorithm is bouncing them out." The observation hovers in digital space like smoke in an empty room—both obvious and elusive once you try to grasp it.
I feel seen. GenX menfolk paddle our digital canoes on an analog river of skepticism. Iran Contra, post-9/11 Patriot Act overreach, monetization of monitorization—it’s all so much. It makes sense for so much to be unsaid, especially online.
my laaaaate gen x/early millennial husband is largely like this - he has seldom tweeted but gets notifications when i do, and he has posted exactly one picture from our wedding day (but he HAS posted it twice)
Yea, sounds about right. HA!: "While Boomer men post with the unearned confidence of someone who believes history ended in 1985... typical Gen X men post like someone fulfilling a community service requirement..." REAL TALK

Just waiting for the fire to start. And watching it with a slight grin. 💯

I (Gen X man) have started to reach out and comment more, just to say good job. So, bullseye, good job.
Me commenting this kinda refutes what I’m about to say—but I, too, am a bit of a gen x man online
It resonated with me too
This pretty much sums it up. Thanks Kelly.
