I don’t watch love island for reasons like this, but I do love an incisive take on what it reflects on society. in this case, it’s: this is what it is like to be in a relationship (of any kind, but - romantic is truly the darkest of entanglements) with someone with borderline personality disorder and/or abandonment-trauma-informed cPTSD. you have only two choices: protect yourself by fleeing and going completely no-contact, or arm yourself for a long battle with emotional dysregulation, but only if they are willing AND you understand the nature of the beast. “I have nothing to talk about” in therapy is your sign to run; willingness/action in seeking DBT, EMDR, cannabis, ketamine, psychedelic treatment, etc. is very likely a person you can extend your empathy and support them in a healthy way.
whatever you choose: know your boundary, communicate it, and stick to it. america will not vote to save you the turmoil of your own worst instincts.

This is one of your all time best lines "She’s drowning, and drowning people don’t swim gracefully."
I love your compassion for her and them <3 I haven't been watching but I love reading your culture takes.
Thank you. Huda reverts to abusive words, I didn’t get into that aspect, but maybe another newsletter.
Really like this perspective! (Huda is 24, though)
