I’m 45 and dealing with the same patterns with my memory. It’s been going on for a while (a couple of years maybe, but who knows what time is anymore) and I am genuinely curious if it’s getting better or if I’ve adjusted and gotten used to my new, sometimes MIA brain. It’s bizarre to have something on my mind and then all of a sudden it’s completely gone! I like the way you are framing this as a new way organizing or prioritizing. Also, does anyone else have a heightened sense of smell in perimenopause? I am smelling things like the neighbors’ body wash, the rain outside before I hear or see it, no one else in my house seems to notice and I’m completely distracted by how strong the smells are to me.
Wow. This. I have been anxiety riddled for a few years now (I'm 46) about this, and feeling like I am losing my mind. This makes so much sense to me, and makes me feel loads better! Thank you!
The most satisfying way I’ve been dealing with this is to say to anyone asking me to remember something from yesterday or two hours ago “I’m sorry, I’m not all caught up in the past like you. I’m living in the here and now and I’m letting go of all that old stuff.”
I can relate max blast. This morning my 11 yr old daughter brought up a movie we watched together a month ago and I had to pretend I knew like she what she was talking about. She's like "you know, the one about Queen Victoria" I had to google it to jog my memory. Lol. Holy shit balls.
Also 46 and same same. I mean, except for the grandmother part (my kiddo’s 11). I feel both smarter & dumber. It’s heartening to hear this nuanced experience articulated so well.

THIS!! TY for putting into words the way my 44 yr old self feels.
At 60, I can relate to this 1000%. This confirms it's all good, and all you need is a really great sense of humor!

Well, this hit me dirt deep. I'm 46 and about to be a grandmother of two in 6 weeks...is this real life? I only remember being 30
